most girls you can take to a bar and they’ll bring a flask and talk to you about ‘how much it sucks to be 29’ and if you DO get laid that night theres kind of a “oh, well, huh” afterwards. i mean, what do you say in 50 years when theres a “grandpa how did you meet grandma?” sort of thing? “well, billy, she begrudgingly let me put it in her after i plied her with $47 worth of mid-priced gin over a six hour conversation about The Murder City Devils”?

but those fucking indie coffee shop girls? it was like Wifeville: Population Her. even if you were at some dive bar every time you hung out with them it felt like a fucking picnic in rural France in the 50’s and you thought the whole summer was going to be blowjobs and sundaes. it was like you were in a sitcom named “Spoonin’!” where the main characters were just you, her, and her cat Pickles (voiced from beyond the grave by John Candy).

and then something shitty happens. like: you kind of, maybe, sort of, accidentally fell into another vagina. you were just walking along and this Very Mean Young Lady tripped you and you just fell penis first into her lady parts where the very definition of “myopic” was written on her vaginal walls. whoops! and then you fucked it up big time. and then she cried a whole bunch. or maybe you did. its ok to cry, fellas. just dont be eating when youre crying. thats just awkward for everybody. saw a dude cry at Subways one time. and he was making the sandwich. not cool.

there is an end to all good things, sadly. which isnt to say there wont be others coming, but the secret to a good Long Term Boner Party is to remember what made it good in the first place, and when its over, its over, and when you gotta go you gotta go. because a perfect Boner Party can become a Moaner Party pretty easy. y’dig?

When our patients are not our customers (insurance companies are our customers in the current setup), doctors don’t treat patients as customers. As a matter of fact, doctors provide amazing customer service…to insurance companies. Hence, the reason why we hire 4.6 staff members for each one of us - to deal with our customers and get paid for seeing the middlemen.

It’s a sad, sad situation.

Could you imagine Apple’s Geniuses scoffing at Apple customers?

The truth is…a patient should be a “partner customer.” Doctors need to get over the fact that they know best, all the time. Often times they do, but it’s absolutely vital to communicate why with their patients. Because, with our 8 minute exam visit say 5 times a year, we spend 40 minutes with each patient per year. So, the other 525,960 minutes they spend making decisions without your expertise.

It’s just reality.

But last I checked, docs are doing a very poor job chasing chronic disease and actually improving our nation’s health. Isn’t obesity, diabetes, and many other behavior-based diseases on the rise? The era of the doctor ego is over. We’ve failed as doctors because we’ve never been trained to change behavior nor prevent. We’ve only been trained to cut and prescribe. It’s time to reinvent ourselves as champions of wellness or the public will go elsewhere…as we’re seeing with the rise of alternative medicine and the distrust of our industry and profession.

Soo, I got a job in the production office on the pilot that’s in town and with this newfound source of money bought myself a Timbuk2 bag to lug my shit around in!! I originally wanted the navy part to be plum but they’re out of plum and beggars can’t be choosers. So happy!!

(Also debating buying a new macbook w/ the excess cash from this job!)

Word up, I second this. I couchsurfed five or six times in my trip cross the states. Everyone was wonderful in their own ways and we definitely met a diverse group of people that way. I highly recommend it to everyone always!!
